The Economic Forum of El Salvador was Directed to the Salvadoran-Canadians residing in Quebec, the forum aimed to inform all the possibilities to establish a company or invest in El Salvador. It was attended by the Moderator of the Forum, Ms. Diana Echeverría, General Director of Liaison for Salvadorans Abroad. The panel included the participation of the President of PROESA, Salvador Gómez Góchez, the Vice Minister for Salvadorans Abroad Cindy Portal, the Minister of Economy María Luisa Hayem, the Minister of Housing Michelle Sol, and the Speaker Liliana Zepeda, Owner of Lilis Travel.
Investment Opportunities: The president of PROESA reaffirmed his commitment to enhance business and investment with Canada and the Salvadoran community residing in Canada. “El Salvador has become an ideal place to invest and has the full support of the government. We have many specialists in PROESA who will provide all the tools to invest and carry out your projects,” explained the President of the Agency. Currently, El Salvador has attracted around $ 42.5 million in investments from Salvadorans living abroad in recent months. The sectors to invest are tourism, telecommunications, aquaculture, energy, chemicals -pharmaceutical, textiles and apparel, housing, agroindustry, aeronautics and medical devices.
Some of the advantages for Salvadorans abroad to invest in their country are the security of their investment because it is their country of origin, laws that guarantee legal stability, and could also financially ensure their retirement. International market trends towards food production guarantee a safe market for exports. “We hope that Salvadorans in Montreal and Quebec can invest in the country that saw them grow” said Gómez Góchez.
