MINEC will award up to $ 100,000 for energy efficiency projects

The Ministry of Economy (MINEC) launches the call for a program of co-financing of non-reimbursable funds for Salvadoran companies that are interested in carrying out energy efficiency programs, called “Cleaner Production.” 

  

Minec’s Impulso Empresarial technician, Leonor Peña, explained that these funds are partial financial support through which a company can obtain leverage in the development of energy efficiency programs. 

  

According to Peña, companies can obtain from $ 1,500 to $ 100,000 to execute projects aimed at optimizing their energy consumption, executable in a period of between three and nine months. 

  

In addition, the amount that companies will be able to access will be determined by the nature of the project they seek to execute, that is, the requests will be subjected to an analysis that will establish the need for the required funds and what actions are the most feasible to finance. 

  

The “Cleaner Production” program aims to generate changes in the implementation of energy efficiency projects, which allows companies to carry out self- sustaining and environmentally friendly actions, through cost reduction, improving production processes, and creating more efficient products. competitive, said the official. 

  

In this regard, the Minister of Economy, María Luisa Hayem, highlighted this effort to incorporate efficient energy performance into economic development plans through innovation and to reduce carbon production and consequently the environmental impact. 

  

“We make available to the productive sectors of the country the technical, financial and non-reimbursable funds offer as a stimulus to be able to carry out energy projects,” the minister emphasized.
