El Salvador will have its first wind park

The first wind farm in El Salvador for the generation of electrical energy through the wind is being built in Metapán.

The company in charge of the project is Ventus, owned by the Tracia Network Corporation, it will have an installed capacity of 50 megawatts (MW) and it is expected to start operating later this year.

In the last days, the components for the assembly of the plant have arrived in the country. Government and private companies have joined forces for what will be the largest wind power plant in the region.

“We are proud to be able to work and support the establishment of new investments in El Salvador. This megaproject is undoubtedly the spearhead in the economic reactivation of the country, which will bring great benefits to all Salvadorans, as we are already seeing in the reduction of the energy tariff “. PROESA President Salvador Gómez Góchez said.

These mega investments in the energy sector are another achievement and a bet of the government of President Nayib Bukele and represent to date 80% of the country’s energy matrix in the generation of 100% clean and 100% renewable energy sources with the environment .

As PROESA we are supporting investments in the energy sector that contribute to the growth and development of the energy matrix, from the beginning we have provided technical support for its establishment and for the first wind farm to become a reality in the country.

Among the characteristics of the project, it will be made up of 15 120-meter-high wind turbines, the tallest in Central America, with 67-meter blades, which will generate more than 50 megawatts of 100% clean energy that will benefit thousands of Salvadoran households.
