The Government of El Salvador has marked a great commitment to the security of the country, thus motivating the tourist attraction; For this reason, more than 2,400 foreigners were received on the Norwegian Sun cruise, the second to dock in the country, of the 2022-2023 cruise season.
Thanks to the strong promotion of El Salvador as a tourist destination planned by the Government of President Bukele, tourists will be able to visit the archaeological sites Joya de Cerén, San Andrés; they will also visit the municipality of San Julián and enjoy the different beauties that the Historic Center of San Salvador, in addition to Nahuizalco, Sonsonate, the Santa Ana volcano and will visit Apaneca, generating a large amount of foreign exchange.
“We are working in a coordinated way to be able to have more visitors. The numbers say it. As of September of this year we have received more than 1.8 million visitors making a recovery of over 93% and we have received more than $1,800 million in foreign exchange. We are becoming leaders in tourism recovery and the cruise line is a great bet. We are working in coordination with Immigration and Customs so that all visits are efficient”, explained the Minister of Tourism, Morena Valdez.
El Salvador is positioned as a good destination to visit and has captivated the cruise industry, thus confirming more than 15 berths for the 2022-2023 season, thus reaching the historical maximum in the country.
The ship arrived in the country at 6:00 a.m., after an adventure that began last October 11 in Seattle, Washington, United States, visiting countries such as Mexico and Guatemala, El Salvador being the tenth port to visit. The foreigners will stay 10 hours in these lands and their route continues to Nicaragua, Costa Rica, Colombia and ends in Miami, Florida, in the United States.
“Norwegian Cruise Lines is one of the best cruise companies. Now, we have them in our country. These international companies have confidence in the Government of President Bukele. The Territorial Control Plan is providing security to our country and makes these companies want to come, in a calm and peaceful way. El Salvador is on its way to being the safest country in Latin America and that is what these companies like”, added the president of the Autonomous Executive Port Commission (CEPA), Federico Anliker.
It is in this way that the Government is achieving a better position in the cruise industry and increasing the number of tourists who enter Cuscatlán lands. Thus, it is benefiting the micro, small and medium-sized entrepreneurs of the tourist areas they visit, including artisans, tour operators and the private sector.
